Now let's explore advanced grouping based on member attributes, such as gender or roles. By simply setting assignment rules, the system automatically optimizes the balance of members on your canvas, instantly generating smart, well-distributed teams.
Click or tap the (Add New Attribute) next to [Attributes] on the canvas control panel to open the dialog for configuring a new attribute.
Edit the New Attribute
Configure the basic information for the new attribute. Enter the name, select the assignment rule, and click or tap "Create" in the bottom right to close the dialog and open the attribute editor.
You can choose from the following assignment rules. In this tutorial, we will proceed assuming Distribute attributes evenly is selected.
Distribute attributes evenly: Distributes members so that different types are mixed within a single group as much as possible.
Group together by attributes: Groups members of the same type together within a single group as much as possible.
While you can also edit types from the table in the center of this dialog, this tutorial introduces how to set them up interactively on the canvas in the next step.
Add Types
Select (Add Types) from the toolbar, then click or tap anywhere on the canvas to place a type. Make sure the types do not overlap with each other.
Edit Types
Switch the toolbar mode back to (Select) and click or tap a type on the canvas. You can change its name and color from the properties menu.
Assign Types to Members
Placing a member card inside a type container assigns that specific attribute type to the member. For example, in the diagram below, Alice is assigned to "Women". You can assign types either by dragging individual member cards into a type, or by moving and resizing the type container itself to encompass the members.
When a type is selected, the members belonging to that type will be displayed with a dotted outline.
Clicking or tapping a type again while it is already selected will also select all members belonging to that type. Dragging in this state allows you to move the type container and the members at the same time.
You do not need to assign a type to every single member. Any members left outside the type containers will simply be treated as having "No Type."
A member cannot hold multiple types within a single attribute. If you want to assign multiple characteristics to a single member, please create and configure an additional attribute for each one.
Execute Grouping
Click or tap the
in the upper right of the canvas to run the grouping process, and the results will be rendered on the canvas. You will see optimal groups generated according to your assignment rules. Just like in tutorial Quick Start: Simple Random Splits, you can re-run the process or export the results.
